Your Community

Recent engagement has highlighted the community members are unaware of how to be more involved in their local community in relation to having their say.

  • We want to hear what would be the best way to promote opportunities to you?
  • What would encourage you to be more involved
  • What barriers exist in relation to having your say!

    Gourock Park Bowling Club 13.02.2025
    - The facility of a lunch club would be much appreciated. It would give me much needed company, a home made meal. Would be more than happy to pay. The Kirn Drive community centre was an ideal situation but the council sold it off. We need the 540 bus re-instated. Gourock people need to pay for taxis to get to the health centre, hospital, and Gourock Town Centre.
    - Where are the opportunities? We need lifelong learning, we need inclusivity. I think there needs to be more in regards to older care, dementia friendly, and autism awareness etc.
    - Venues: Warm spaces are beneficial, hopefully these will be continued / supported. Possible venues for learning first etc could be the gamble halls or anywhere else nearby.
    - We have asked for plans for better utilisation of the tennis courts that have been dismissed times, at Gourock park bowling club. This makes me feel like not getting involved because these opinions are not being heard.

Dog Fouling is a big issue on most streets and it seems to be down to inconsiderate owners rather than a lack of bins (Coppermine Community Centre 11/02/25) PF

No direct bus service to the hospital which really impacts the most disadvantaged in our community but with only one bus company operating cant see the 540 bus getting reinstated any time soon (Coppermine Warm Spaces 11/02/2025) PF

I've heard of the community council but its not something I'm interested in and would have no idea where and when it takes place (Coppermine Warm Spaces 11/02/25) PF

I think there should be traffic lights at the junction of George Road and Larkfield Road for the safety of both pedestrians and drivers as that junction is always busy with the amount of schools in the vicinity (Coppermine warm Spaces 11/02/25) PF

                    Gourock library 11.02.2025

Opportunities promoted through employers, there should be time given to attend events and training opportunities.

Other opportunities should be promoted through social media, all council buildings, and leaflet drops.

Engagement with local businesses would be a massive help to promote opportunities.

There should be more family related activities and that could be an opportunity to inform the attendees of what's available in Inverclyde.

I think time and money is a barrier for me getting involved.
