Overall i fee safe in my area of Port Glasgow, but i wonder of others do, in particular those new to the area. Anti Islam slogans daubed on walls around lower Port Glasgow do not make for welcoming community, graffiti in general in the area is also a sign of neglect. Thankfully , the offensive slogans have been removed but it perhaps indicates a need for further vigilance in the area.
Bike track was upgraded but lighting is very poor. Not safe to walk at night. Weekends are very rowdy, with teenagers drinking setting off fireworks.
Hi Christine, your comment has been passed to our community safety team, would you be happy for this to be raised with your local community council, or feel free to attend their next meeting. There are two Community Councils in Port Glasgow, Port Glasgow West and Port Glasgow East
It would good to hear if this is a concern for other residents.
I feel that no cover is given by the wardens on the bike track between Montrose Avenue and Kilmacolm. If you go for a walk at the weekend or school holidays all you get is drunk young people. Why do the Police/ wardens not go onto the bike track
Hi Paul, thank you for raising this issue and this has been passed to the community safety team, Community Wardens can be contacted on 0800 01 317 01

I think more lighting, make sure street lights are working, we should increase the police presence to sweep areas, I think there should be more CCTV covering blind areas. If i had a safety concern i would contact the police however, other options should be promoted better.

We need to fix the potholes at Parklea, I think there needs to be more lighting across the walkways leading to Parklea.
I would also like more police presence especially at night when people are finishing work.
Feedback from Parklea Branching Out 23.01.2025
I feel my community overall is a safe place, my bigger concern is the volume of teenagers and young people using the busses to travel and causing hassle. Not everyone would feel safe walking along the road and meeting a group of teens behaving erratically.
- A curfew on the free bus travel for youngsters, more patrols driving through popular loitering areas.
- I don't think there's any unsafe areas but areas near shops seem to attract people.
- I know who to report safety concerns to but i have zero confidence that something will be done about it.

- All areas should be lit and no dark areas for footfall.
- Self defence workshops
- Overall i feel safe in or around isolated areas
- There should be a safety course to teach ways to reduce unsafe behaviour / situations

I think local police should be doing more talks in schools, i believe this would be helpful in terms of engagement.

- Don't see the wardens anymore and there is a lack of police presence nowadays.
- The response times are too long when calling the police or wardens for anti-social behaviour.

- Make sure there is good lighting to feel safe walking around.
- There should be more cameras and patrols around the community especially around the community centre.
- I would know how to report concerns and would feel confident to do so if needed.
