AS - The traffic in Gourock is bad, in particular around school pick up/drop off time. I believe Kirn Drive should become a one way system.
AS - I am a dog walker and often frequent Battery Park and the dog fouling issue is awful. I often pick up 4 dog poos on my travels, 3 of which are not from my dogs, which I shouldn't have to do but I believe it is the right thing to do.
Whilst attending the Lyle Gateway on the 13/02/2025, an attendee raised the following concern:
- The pavements on Campbell Street are in a state of disrepair. She explained that she often uses the pavement there and the slabs are uneven at the Arts Guild and one one occasion she has tripped and fallen over.

- There is a serious issue for dog fouling at the following: Battery Park, Gourock park, Shore Street, Walled Garden, and Tower Drive.
- Bring the tennis courts back, as there is not a lot for younger ones to do. Bring back the paddling ponds on the front of Gourock.

- Light needed along entrance to Gourock park. This would ensure the safety for people walking through it. An accident is waiting to happen.
- There are lights needed at Binnie Lane, this lane needs maintenance and even in day light it is a dangerous walk.
- The lower side street of Gourock does not get road sweepers / road gritters and they desperately need them.
- There should be public bins that shut over - like the ones in Glasgow etc.
- Dark sky areas e.g. Battery Park is like a beacon although safety is paramount but is well over the limit to what is needed for safety, and the cost of lighting must be very expensive. A dark sky rep on astronomy showed us all areas in Inverclyde where was excessive and needed for safety.
- I think there should be improved lighting within Gourock Park.
- In icy conditions more sand is needed for the pavements and roads.
Whilst attending the Lyle Gateway on the 11/02/2025, attendees raised the following comments:
- Concerns were raised about who is planning changes in the local authority, in particular to streets with the cycle lanes being highlighted as a particular safety concern.
- Concerns were raised around the dog fouling across Inverclyde. One attendee commented that it is particularly bad on Grant Street and on one occasion they found a dog poo bag in their front garden.
I don't really have any safety concerns at the moment but if i did my first port of call would be to phone Inverclyde Council (Coppermine Warm Spaces 11/02/25) PF
The crossing at George Road and Larkfield Road is very dangerous and would like to see some sort of improvements to make it safer (Coppermine Warm Spaces 11/02/25) PF
Some give way signs are really faded and this is something that could cause accidents (Coppermine Warm Spaces 11/02/25) PF
