Group of 2 females and one male at the Inverkip Church Warm Spaces:
Langhouse Road needs something to discourage speeding cars. Children and older people coming out of the church or church hall could be knocked down by a driver and it is dangerous.
Parking on the main road is a nightmare - especially at school time. One way system should be explored. It wouldn't be difficult to implement. It was tried at an event some years ago and worked well.
Large groups of youths gather and are under-age drinking. They cause litter.
Wardens could perhaps help, but not everyone knows how to contact them. Perhaps their number could be added to the community noticeboards.
Whilst at the Inverkip Community Hub on the 31/01/25 attendees made the following comments:
- 'Police presence in local schools to assist with school parking issues is positive.'
- 'Junction safety issues.'
- 'ASB: kids knocking and kicking doors.'
- 'Feel safe out at night when walking dogs.'
- 'Beaches: Summer issues with teenagers (needs police on trains and can extend to the village), intimidating behaviour and mess left behind, water safety issues.'
- 'Big drug problem and closed police station.'
- 'Lots of children misbehaving.'
- 'Lots of gangs congregating at park and beach.'
- 'Train feels unsafe with amount of drink on them.'
- 'More community wardens.'
The following concerns were raised by those in attendance at the Inverkip Community Hub on the 31/01/2025.
- Concerns raised around proposed new build flats next to Sainsbury's (Langhouse Road) causing reduced visibility for pedestrians/road users.
Inverclyde should remove all the multiple plastic bins, that love a good high wind to go walkies, and replace the with large metal refuse bins behind all flats. This would mean less operators, less wind damage, less unsightliness, more parking area or even a communal garden or greenhouse. The size of bins could be similar to that near Sainsbury and have only 2 sets (Glass, landfill, Hard plastics, paper/cardboard), one set where the entrance is off Main Street ( large campervan there now) and another at the end of the Flats where there are 5 parking slots.

Some issues within Inverkip with youths kicking doors, but there isn't enough for them to do.
Higher visibility of wardens could perhaps help.
No spaces or areas of concern locally - all would feel happy walking home at night.
They would report any concerns to the community council and have no issue reporting these.
They would like to see another defibrillator in the village as it's a fair distance from one end of the village to the other.

Pavement outside Inverkip Hotel is extremely narrow can only walk single file and when buses and large vehicles drive by its quite frightening as they don't seem to slow down even though they are going through a village
I suggest we make that road one way from the beach parking area junction to Daff Avenue junction, At that Daff Avenue junction point have road bumps for the speeders coming down the hill. Only exit allowed from Sainsbury and Main street via Main St and Highway junction. The off ramp south from the highway allows access to Sainsbury with no Give way, This should stop counterflow traffic incidents.. Bus route pick up, could be put into the grassed area on the corner of Main Street and the highway going South to Largs or under the footbridge.

Street lighting in Wemyss bay is terrible and lots of kids congregate outside the spar

Weymss Bay seems particularly bad for dog fouling not sure if more dog litter bins are needed or more public awareness
