Provision of warm spaceDescription
Provision of warm space at weekly drop in at Coppermine Cafe offering hot food, advice and exercise session
Nov 24 - Mar 25
£2,550
So many people have already benefitted from this local resource. The Tai Chi and Functional Fitness MOTs are important for keeping people active later in life, and encouraging them to take part in gentle exercise on a weekly basis.
The socialising aspect of this group helps reduce isolation and provides a safe, inclusive space for people to come and enjoy their Monday Afternoon. This area is quite isolation and there isn't much to do nearby, making the Community Centre and the groups within it vital to local livelihood.
It's so important for people to have somewhere to go every week in Gourock, and the Motivational Mondays cafe at Coppermine has already proved hugely popular, with the tasty soup and sandwiches on offer as well as the opportunity to take part in gentle exercise and mindfulness. The cafe is a great community resource for those living in the local area, and funding would ensure it remains open to all who are isolated and need support this winter.
Great opportunity for local people which meets identified needs - physical activity, reduce isolation, provision of a healthy warm lunch ect and most of all create and build friendships! ultimately preventing peoples overall health and wellbeing deteriorating, Volunteer Emma is great asset and hopefully can be sustained over the months!......P.S I've tried Jo's homemade vegetable soup, its MAGIC!
The Motivational Monday cafe at Coppermine Community Centre offers a great opportunity for people to come together over warm food, a cuppa and make and build new friendships while helping to improve physical health, improve mental health and well being through gentle Thai Chi exercises, mindfulness sessions, it offers a safe warm space for people to connect and by participating, offers a warm welcome with free hot food.
this is a great opportunity for people to access, to improve their mental health and wellbeing, physical activity and meet new people. due to the cost of living this gives people another choice to get some hot food and stay warm.
Mondays at the Coppermine serve as a valuable community resource, offering a variety of activities to meet the needs of those who attend. Jo and Rosalind are wonderful hosts; they ensure all visitors feel welcomed in the friendly environment.
I know that this space offers so much in terms of friendship, keeping warm and having something warm to eat. The added extra of having Tai Chi and fitness MOT checkers has been really beneficial so many who have attended so far. What a great location for those in the neighbourhood to have this right on their doorstep.
I have recommended this to my clients as this could improve their mental health and well being and reduce loneliness and isolation. The chance to enjoy complimentary hot food and make new friends and even enjoy some light exercise. Well done for providing such a wonderful get together.
Comment from JS: It's great there is a place to "blether no matter the weather" and also get some food and light exercise!
